No More Updates...
It has been over 7 years since my last update. Obviously, there won't be any more. I always meant to post the occasional update but never found the time or the desire. As with most things in life, our priorities change as life goes on, and so do we.

The pages of Methos Quake contain some moments and demos from the gaming world that we can all share. I'm pretty sure that my memory of all the bad times and stressful moments has faded enough for me to think that it was so much fun for all those years, and for the most part, it was. There are incredible moments that I will never forget and they will always bring a smile to my face.

There were so many amazing people from everywhere involved in Quake. When it started, it was only some local friends, then it was people in the same city attending lan parties, then larger lans, then high speed internet connections that brought people together from further and further away. Then tournaments that brought in the best players from all over the world, sometimes for big prizes, sometimes for nothing more than bragging rights.

I want to say thanks to some people but I know I will leave out many and for that I apologize. Let's start with the writers who contributed to Methos Quake over the years...

- Spookie (Jarlaxle) who rambled on "The Spookie Side" for a couple of years. I lost track of Charles a years back when he moved from L.A. Things didn't work out for him but I hope he is doing well.
- Cataklyque who wrote "Cataklyque's Corner"
- Spot, my ex-wife who had her "Spot Light" editorials for a short while
- Gobo, an intelligent writer from Australia who wrote his Gobo's Gibbage page
- Paul2, our favorite patient (and writer) from the "Quake Mental Hospital"

Then there were the many, many online friends. I wouldn't even know where to start so I can only name a few...

- Don "DK" King, a long time supporter who went on to run his own Quake demo site called www.challenge-tv.com
- Richard "Hoony" Sandliant, my kindred spirit from down under who owned all the challenge-xx servers, starting with challenge-au.
- Tim "gaijin" Winn from Clan Knightmare who spent a couple of seasons with me running the KIT Q3 tourneys, they will never be forgotten
- Chris "Red Barchetta" King, who was a fan of this site and Quake in general for quite a while.

I can not list all the great players over the years as there were too many that made me say "wow". To those players in the early days of Thresh, DaNoLd & Sujoy, to future generations that included Lakerman, CZM and many, many more, I owe them so much for all the entertainment they gave us.

There are too many moments that have happened to name. So many great games, so many great tournaments, so many great players and clans. A few highlights for me were...

- The TGI (True Gamers Invitational) tournament. I can't put in to words just how much excitement there was for this tournament, the first one that brought the greatest players in the world together for a super showdown in Sweden. Lakerman winning by one frag in the final game and when there were tons of people all around trying to speak with him, he immediately walked over to a computer, logged onto IRC and messaged me so that I would have the first interview with him after the amazing victory.
- Although I admin'd many, many Q3 tournaments, the Knightmare Invitational Tournaments (KIT) will always be my favorites. From giving away over $15,000 in cash and prizes (for a free tourney), from the incredible eastern finals in season 1 between Clan Capital and the Stickmen, to being able to watch the Quake world come together at the end of KIT2 to be able to send Clan 519 to Paris, France.
- Running the first online Q3 tourney that had a play by play shoutcast for nearly all the games. Whether is was DJ- Wheat, Wiseguy, Trillian, DeeAy and many more. It made the games more exciting.
- For articles posted, nothing got more attention than Quake's 5th Birthday article, interviews and history timeline. Over 8 million hits, 1 million page views (to think I never got one penny for the site because there weren't any ads). I've seen the birthday interviews and timeline posted on many sites around the internet, not one of them asked my permission. :)

So that means it is now time to officially say goodbye from me. Thanks for all the great times, thanks for all the great memories. I hope that you're all still alive and doing well. I hope to talk to some of you in the future. Feel free to email me, the link at the top of the page still works.

A heartfelt Thank You to all and a gracious Goodbye

Ray "Methos" Walsh
